The Art of Joy by Jason S. Greene I'm not sure who is happier. Our members to be back working out or my staff, to have the members back in the clubs. I know it's fun to see this much joy in people. All of this started me thinking about the "Art of Joy". I phrase it that way because just like being a great painter, musician, actor or any other artist it takes practice. If it's worth having, it's worth working toward. Below are four simple things I know will may you more joyful. Stop the worry. I know that sounds a little to cliché and obvious, so let me explain. You choose to worry. That's right you make a choice to worry. Your mind is just like your television. If you don't like the channel, change it. If you feel yourself starting to dwell on the negative switch channels and start focusing on the positive. Yes, it is that simple! Don't make your Joy conditional. Ever told yourself, "I'll be so happy when ________"? Then blank happens and you change the condition to the next obstacle. Your Joy has become conditional, but true joy isn't conditional. True joy just is. Rejoice in the big and small. We all get excited at the big stuff. Graduations, new car, new house, vacation, etc. But do you take time to rejoice in the small stuff? A sunrise, sunset, smile from a stranger, dogs, cats, birds. Act like a small child and get excited about all of the little things again. Be grateful for all of it! Be here now. If you are stressed out, 9 out of 10 times it is because of something that has nothing to do with the moment you are living in. When your mind starts that downward spiral just say to yourself "I am here right now and I can't be anywhere else." Then spend just a few minutes or even seconds breathing and focusing on where you and what you are doing in that moment. Another way to describe this action is "get out of your own head". I wrote this today because during the Covid-19 shutdown of my two gyms I felt my joy seep away. It was like someone had pulled the plug on my warm bath and left me cold and uncomfortable. As I wrote this, I could feel the tub filling back up. Hope it helps you too. I pray you become an "Artist of Joy". The Art of Joy by Jason S.
